Morthern Road was formerly known as Town Street. Gillot Lane was originally Rollings Lane. Some old names have disappeared : Fish Pond Close and Knolls's Close were both found in Merryweather's books of sales and Transactions. In the enclosure awards 1814-1817 Hanging Reks Lane and Turnpike road are mentioned - The Turn pike Road became the main Bawtry to Sheffield Road.
